::comes out of the dwc::

I hate it when it's overcast like this. Really brings me down.

I'm not running on all thrusters today. I almost left w/o my pager and ID this morning, then I started walking to the building w/o my umbrella, and then I realized that I forgot my CDs, but I was too far away to walk back at that point.

Blah.

It was a pretty good weekend, though. The grand rents had a good time with the boy and all that.

Don't even feel like writing. This sucks.

Can someone else make this job decision for me? Granted everyone except one person said go to Chicago, but I'm just so indecisive.

Dammit. I can't stay here for another 8 hours. I'm gonna have to go get those CDs. Fuck fuck fuck.

Okay, I'll put it in Star Wars Terms for you...

What if Luke never went looking for Obi-Wan? What if he just said, "I'm afraid to leave the moisture farm, because everything I know and love is here." (Okay, not likely, but work with me here)

Then he would have been killed by Stormtroopers, the droids would have been taken, Princess Lea would have been executed, Han and Chewie would have been eventually killed by Bounty Hunters, and the rebellion would have failed and the galaxy would be forever under the thumb of the Empire.

Dammit Luke! Er, Matt! Go Find Ben! He lives in Chicago! The rebellion needs you... Don;t stay there on the moisture farm... In OHIO?! (Damn, I am really stretching ti thin on this one)

no, mike, I'm in indiana, not ohio. haven't lived in ohio in 5 years ;)

and actually what probably woulda happened was that luke woulda taken r2 and 3po to anchorhead to have their memories erased... again... the stormtroopers would've shown up while luke was gone, and then probably would've gone to look for obi wan since owen and beru were dead and all he had left were two droids who were looking for obi wan in the first place. ben then woulda got really pissed off at luke for erasing their memories and then they woulda spent the rest of the movie trying to figure out who the hell the droids belonged to. probably woulda ended up about the same. maybe w/o han and chewie b/c they mighta gone to anchorhead and gone to mos espa instead, but that's beside the point.

hmm... what woulda happened? I mean, they probably woulda gone to alderaan since obi wan knew r2 belonged to bail and leia, mighta missed the death star being there, so they decide to go to dagobah and get yoda. they take the time to train luke, he becomes uber jedi, then the three of them go off to save the galaxy. woulda been fantastic...

Ah yes, the lost episode! And then Marty McFly woulda jetted back in the hover-converted Deloreon, and told them they screwed up the movie and than they would have gone back in time to steal R2 and drop him off near the sand people so that the timeline would have been repaired...

Either way, take the Chicago Job! ;)

There will be time for that later. :) Maybe our kids can act them out in costume after they are about 5 years old and can quote the movies verbatim... (but with cute kiddie lisps!)

i'm sorry you're poopy today. Maybe i should get drunk and videotape myself doing drunken dance moves and send it to you. meh- that probably wouldn't help but at least it would give me something to do today.
Good luck with your job stuff.

Doesn't the fact that everyone tells you to go and yet you STILL can't decide...tell you something about your psyche??

Yep! it screams that you're more neurotic than I am!

From: [identity profile] hofmannison.livejournal.com
ha! this from the one person who told me NOT to go!

Date: 2003-09-02 09:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] electriclime.livejournal.com
HA!! that's not the point, is it?

I, personally, wouldn't go. But that is because I'm a risk taker. Happiness is more important than anything and I'd make sure I had the back up of unemployment or whatever. If that option didn't exist, then I'd probably go. Because... what choice do you have?

but.. if unemployment is an option and you have a chance at your job being extended..I'd wait it out.

I believe that the right thing will come along at the right time.

And maybe having second thoughts on something is a sign.

but that's me. And I'm crazy.

Date: 2003-09-02 09:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hofmannison.livejournal.com
yeah, that's why I keep you around :)

see, I think that chicago is a bigger risk than waiting it out. much bigger.

that and I'm way too proud... not to mention too conservative... to ever accept unemployment.

Date: 2003-09-02 09:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] electriclime.livejournal.com
I've never been on unemployment, so I might just be blowing smoke out my ass.

But I've seen too many people who were laid off (I live in Boeing-Land you know) and I don't see it as a sign of weakness at all. It's just what happens. In this day and age and economy...you do what you have to do

Date: 2003-09-02 10:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hofmannison.livejournal.com
yeah it definitely sucks for those folks.

so what are you up to today?
